The Mandeville Special Collections Library at UC San Diego hosts a wonderful range of books, from Dr. Seuss’s original drawings to Pope Pius IV’s personal bible to one of the West Coast’s most notable cookbook collections, including copies of Scappi’s Opera and Amelia Simmon’s American Cookery, two of my personal favorites.

On October 23rd at 5:00 PM, I’ll be giving a lecture at the UCSD Faculty Club on my Cookbook Family Tree, exploring the history of early cookbooks and cookbook genres. If you’re in San Diego or down South, please come by!
