Hello all! This will be the last La Varenne class in Los Angeles for some time as Anne is preparing to return to Europe. Chef Alain Giraud is a wonderful friend and familiar face to La Varenne.
On October 1st at 2:30pm we will be featuring Chef Alain Giraud in our seasonal class. Since moving to Los Angeles in 1988 Giraud has opened a number of esteemed restaurants including Lavande, Bastide, and Anisette. He was named “Chef of the Year” by Bon Appétit Magazine in 2003. Today he is waiting upon the reopening of his Pacific Palisades restaurant, Maison Giraud, while working for private parties and catering. We will also be featuring a Lavender Blue pop-up shop hosted by Catherine Giraud where you will have the opportunity to glance at a plethora of gorgeous French Provençal goodies which can be previously viewed at http://lavenderblue-la.com/.
Class will be available for no more than 15 students who will savor five delicious seasonal foods and a glass of wine along with an intimate group setting beside Chef Giraud at a fee of $250. This May, Anne will be speaking at the Manuscript Cookery Book conference in New York City where she will talk about manuscript recipes, contemporary forms of technology and how these have evolved during her 60-year career. Read more about the conference here!
Anne is headed to Las Vegas for Mother’s Day! Join her at BARDOT for a book signing and an unforgettable weekend dinner and brunch experience that will include an accordion player and photographer. The menu features recipes like Chef Chambrette’s Soufflée au Fromage and Babas au Rhum which are from some of Anne’s latest cookbooks like Country Cooking of Franceand her memoir, One Soufflé At A Time.

On Saturday, March 19th, Anne will be a guest of the Cook the Book virtual cooking class led by Denise Vivaldo. Anne will be talking about some of her go-to recipes, including the forgotten treasure white sauce, and all of the things you can do with it. On Thursday, February 25th, Anne will be attending a Middle Eastern & Jewish Cooking luncheon, featuring the fabulous Faye Levy at Melissa’s Produce in Vernon, California. Faye is an accomplished columnist, cookbook author and cooking teacher and will be sharing some of her favorite Middle Eastern and Jewish recipes.
